This is my first time 'blogging' :) Welcome family & friends!
Most of you know that moving abroard with Walmart has always
been something we have talked about in the past... it's now a reality! Walmart is sending us to Hong
Kong! It has been a fast decision and
one we didn’t really see coming until a few weeks ago. The last few weeks, the move has stirred in
our hearts and minds - he got the job - and now we’ve been talking with
relocation and things are moving pretty quickly. Tom is going to be the Senior Director of
Asia Strategy and the job is based in Hong Kong with some travel throughout
India, China, and Japan. It’s the
perfect fit for him!!
It may not be the exact perfect timing, considering we will
be moving overseas when I’m 30/32 weeks pregnant with Baby Boy Alessi #2 (due date: December 7th), but we
figured God wouldn’t give us this opportunity if it wasn’t meant to be! Hopefully, I can make it through the 16 hour
plane ride with Patrick and pregnant. It’s
a two year assignment so we plan to return to our Arkansas home
in just a short two years. Departure
date is still being determined, but aiming for the last week of September.
Tom and I actually just returned from Hong Kong - we were there for a preliminary trip to look for housing, doctor/hospital, visit the office, etc. Patrick was watched by family in Chicago while we ventured away to look for a new home! We had a successful trip and got a lot accomplished, despite being jet-legged the entire week. We found both a doctor & hospital and found a great apartment. We even had time to order a sectional couch with a pull-out queen bed (for all of you who would like to visit!!). Our apartment is a 3 bedroom / 2.5 bathroom located in the Mid-levels (near Central) Hong Kong. My favorite part is that it has a big closets and an extra storage closet. Tom has about a 15 minute commute to the office, we are 10 minutes from the hospital, and it is on the 26th floor in a complex with lots of ex-pat families. It has an indoor playground, gym, and heated outdoor pool which will be great for me and the two boys!

Hoping this blog will allow family and friends stay connected with us and see our little boys! We’d appreciate your thoughts and prayers in the next month as we pack, put things in storage, and move to our new home in a foreign city. An extra prayer and good vibes for a good boy on a long flight would be awesome too!
We are planning to come home and visit at least once a
year! Address to come soon & pics of our new place - we love snail mail, packages, cookies, etc :)
Love,
The Alessi Family
